First port of call of the evening was Paule’s Metal Eck, where there was plenty of the good end of mainstream metal there, including the Deftones and Trivium. They also sold their own branded beer, and the inside was pretty metal too:
Paule himself (assuming that’s his actual name) was also pretty friendly too, and I would have loved to have spent more time there, but alas, I only had the one evening in Berlin, and had more places to go and explore.
The next stop was Feuermelder (German for ‘fire alarm’). This is the one picture I took outside the entrance with a pretty apt sticker on it, since they had a notice instructing people not to take photographs – very common in Germany since they are quite protective of their rights to privacy there (all other photographs of the place are sourced from their Facebook page).
This also did not disappoint even if I initially had a conversation about what beers were on offer – in the end I went for Berliner Pilsner. I also noted that they had a notice telling customers to stop stealing their glasses (pretty ornate tankards) since they were sourced for Ukraine and the factory had been destroyed in the war. The music was more mainstream rock and metal, including Tool and System of a Down.

Next on my whistle stop tour of the Berlin metal scene was Halford, somewhere I had visited in the past, and remains as good as I remembered. It was pretty quiet though – although that was due to it being a weeknight:
Didn’t bother with beer here since I was starting to flag after having had a long day of travelling and aware I had another one ahead of me since I was travelling back to the UK the next day, and I had one final place to visit – Rock und Wikingerbar:
I had one last beer here, although any other time I would be tempted by the different varieties of meads on offer (maybe another time), an Odin’s Trunk dark beer, and I made that last one of the night before heading back to the hostel, ready for the journey home.
