August 2
My penultimate day on the continent dawned as I started the journey home, returning to Milan where I would stay overnight before getting the morning train to Paris and then back to the UK. For a single day I managed to get a lot in, taking in Milan Cathedral, the Da Vinci Museum (no photographs from there as the museum does not permit it), the Castello Sforzesco, and in the evening visited two last bars on this trip. I was quite impressed by what there is to see in Milan after I decided to be a bit more spontaneous about what I saw and not overplan things other than to look at Wikivoyage and Google Maps and figuring out what was around me:
The Piazza del Duomo.
Left and centre: Inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Right: Highlights from Milan Cathedral.
Inside the Castello Sforzesco.
Around Parco Sempione, just outside the castle.
Later that evening, I had one last pizza in Italy (it was nice enough but not in the same league as Naples), and then took in two final bars – firstly going to a craft beer place, Bierfabrik (not to be confused with a similarly spelt bar in the Netherlands), which had a nice, relaxing atmosphere and the beer was great too, and then I went on to Birrificio Lambrate, a microbrewery, which had a pretty lively atmosphere and a great vibe to it, a great way to conclude my European adventure of beer and metal.
Inside the Lambrate microbrewery’s bar. Definitely one place worth returning to if I come back to Milan.
